Dominican Republic

Travelling to a 3rd world country always makes you more grateful for what you have. My husband, Chad, and I just got back from the Dominican Republic, where we saw the most beautiful beaches and the most impoverished living standards.  To think of my own children there was horrifying. Yet all these little children find the joy in their existence because they don’t know any different.  Where would we be without freedom? When my husband lived here on a mission for our church 17 years ago, Trujillo was the president and very oppressive. The president has changed but the places really haven’t. They are still trying to get by on very little; not a lot of new businesses have been created; and the entrepenuer is almost unheard of. I came home ready to stop wasting so much and get back into teaching my children to love their country! So begins another Summer of history stories…….

Loved your story about brave Nathan from June 2010. Who is the original author? I could not find a reference. Thank you!
    God bless.
